Galloway Village:  Located on South Lone Pine Avenue (south of Battlefield Street), today Galloway Village offers an exclusive shopping experience to visitors.  This area is a collection of small shops and restaurants including:  Candles by Sonya, Charmed by Beads, Galloway Village Tea Room, Gone Nuts for You, Jewelry Design by Denise, The Gourmet Paw Barkery and Flea Market, The Rabbit Patch and many more.  Guests can contact the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau (417-881-5300)  for more information on individual listings.  Be sure to ask shop merchants about the history of Galloway!  About Galloway, including photos . . .

The next grouping offers a more outdoors approach to experiencing southwest Missouri through the open air and a bit more active manner:

Lake Springfield

Ozark Greenways Rural Bike Tours:  Ozark Greenways offers a number of different bike trails throughout the county.  (417) 864-2014 or 2015.

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center Website:  The Nature Center building is open daily from 8 am-5 pm. Inside the facility, guests can experience education programs, exhibits, buy fishing and hunting permits, and browse the gift shop. The outdoor area provides 3 miles of hiking trails.  Its hours of operation vary depending on the season.  Admission is free for all.  The entrance route to the Nature Center is by way of the intersection of Glenstone and Republic Road.  For more information call (417) 888-4237.   More photos . . .

If history and the outdoors aren’t your forte`, perhaps the following activity places will be part of your experience in Springfield, Missouri:

Battlefield Mall:  The south side mall offers visitors another option to spend their time shopping.  Some of the merchants include Famous Barr, J.C. Penneys, Sears, Dillards, Finish Line, Old Navy, Victoria’s Secret, Deb, Fye, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pay Less Shoes, Borders, Express, Game Stop and more.  Located at the corner of Battlefield Road & Glenstone Avenue, visitors can call ahead for store hours and promotions.  (417) 883-7777.

Andy's Frozen Custard:

Buffalo Wild Wings:  This restaurant with its fun atmosphere is more of a sports bar-restaurant specializing in what else? Fish This reasonably priced seafood restaurant has an inviting atmosphere for families, groups, or singles.  Relatively new to the area, Fish has quickly been making a name for itself among restaurants in the community.  For more information call (417) 886-6200.

Nakato:  This family-oriented Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar incorporates chefs who entertain while they cook your meal right in front of you.  Watch out for the flaming onion!  For more information call (417) 881-7171.
